Background of the Study
Financial technology (FinTech) has revolutionized the banking sector globally, enhancing the efficiency, accessibility, and transparency of banking services. In Nigeria, the adoption of FinTech solutions has significantly transformed the way financial transactions are conducted, particularly through mobile banking, online payments, and blockchain technology. GTBank, one of Nigeria’s leading commercial banks, has been at the forefront of adopting FinTech innovations to streamline operations and offer more convenient services to customers. These innovations include mobile banking apps, digital payment systems, and advanced customer service tools that make banking services more accessible and efficient.
In Kano State, where there is a significant population engaged in both urban and rural banking, the integration of FinTech solutions has had a notable impact on the efficiency of banking services. The adoption of mobile banking and online payment systems has made banking more accessible, especially for people in rural areas where physical branches are scarce. However, while the benefits of FinTech are clear, challenges related to cybersecurity, digital literacy, and regulatory frameworks persist.
This study aims to explore the role of FinTech in improving banking efficiency at GTBank in Kano State, assessing how the adoption of technological innovations has enhanced service delivery, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
Statement of the Problem
Although FinTech has brought numerous benefits to the banking sector, its implementation in Kano State, particularly by GTBank, has not been without challenges. Issues such as cybersecurity threats, limited digital literacy, and inadequate infrastructure in rural areas hinder the full potential of FinTech solutions. Moreover, there is limited research that evaluates the specific impact of FinTech on banking efficiency within the context of GTBank in Kano State. As such, there is a need to understand the relationship between FinTech adoption and improvements in banking efficiency at the bank's operations in the state.
Objectives of the Study
1. To investigate the role of FinTech in improving banking efficiency at GTBank in Kano State.
2. To evaluate the impact of mobile banking, digital payments, and other FinTech services on customer satisfaction in Kano State.
3. To identify the challenges associated with FinTech adoption and their impact on banking efficiency in Kano State.

This study will focus on GTBank in Kano State and its adoption of FinTech solutions. Limitations include the challenge of obtaining confidential data related to FinTech operations and potential biases in customer feedback.
